66 After this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him. 67 So Jesus said to the twelve, “Do you want to go away as well?” 68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life, 69 and we have believed, and have come to know, that you are the Holy One of God.”

Say: Many people began to turn away from Jesus. Jesus asked his twelve disciples if they wanted to leave him as well. Peter responded confessing that he truly believes there is no other place to be than right next to his friend, Jesus. He speaks for the other disciples that they know Jesus is who he says he is and they are going to stick with him even when others might not, even when life gets hard.

Tell: Now each person can tell why they choose to follow Jesus. If you aren’t following Jesus, share what’s keeping you from following Him.

Ask: How can we draw near to God when life is hard?
Why do you believe that Jesus is who he says he is?
How can it be tempting to walk away from Jesus when life doesn’t go our way?

Pray: Jesus, thank you that you are who you say you are. Help us to believe in our hearts and our minds that life with you is always better. When life is hard please help us to draw nearer to you. We ask that our faith in you would draw those that don’t know you to seek you.
