COVID-19 Statement | March 18, 2020

web blog post-3

Dear Church Family:

In an abundance of caution, and after much consultation, consideration, and prayer, we have made the decision to move all worship services to Facebook Live for the next two Sundays: March 22 and March 29, 2020. We will not worship on campus these two Sundays. On and off campus activities, ministries, gatherings, and the mid-week day school are cancelled through Saturday, April 4, 2020. Decisions regarding the cancellation of other services and ministries will be made in the future.

How did we come to this decision?

Romans 13:1 states, “Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which God has established. The authorities that exist have been established by God.” We are following the leadership of our President Trump, the CDC, and our local officials while making these decisions. We encourage you and your family to do the same.

What are we asking you to do?

Join us for worship on Facebook.
This Sunday, March 22 at 11:00am, join us on Facebook Live for a worship! We will have prayer, worship music, and a message from Pastor David titled “Crisis Reveals Character” from Acts 6:1-7. Join us here: www.facebook.com/firstbaptistfriendswood. If you do not have Facebook, you can watch or listen to the sermon online beginning Sunday afternoon at https://www.firstbaptistfriendswood.org/messages.

Give online.
We know these are uncertain economic times. We also know that God is faithful. We encourage you to give to God’s Kingdom online. It’s quick, easy, and secure. You can make a one-time gift, or you can even join many in our church and set up a recurring gift online. Go to https://www.firstbaptistfriendswood.org/online-giving

Lead your family well.
At First Baptist Friendswood, we strengthen families. One of the ways we strengthen families is by encouraging you to lead family devotions. Much like our Prepare the Way campaign, we will be providing the following for family devotions:
1. A few questions from the sermon for you to discuss at the end of the Facebook Live worship service.
2. A weekly devotion for you and your family (delivered via text, email, and social media).
3. A periodic video encouragement for you and your family via Facebook Live.

Give Blood!
In an effort to serve our community during this crisis, we are hosting a blood drive this Sunday, March 22, 2020 from 10am-2pm in the Family Life Center gymnasium. The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center will be at the church and will be taking every precaution to keep you healthy as you donate blood. You can register in advance at www.commitforlife.org. The sponsor code is F315.

Pray this virus passes quickly.
Pray for those who are sick. Pray for doctors, nurses, and hospitals. Pray for those with a weakened immune system. Pray for a vaccine and a cure to COVID 19. Pray for those who are experiencing a financial crisis.

Follow our church on Social Media for the latest updates.
Please follow us on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter and keep an eye out for however you received this message. We will certainly update you.
