Emptied & Exalted

October 15, 2023 Pastor: Dr. David Lorenz Series: Philippians

Passage: Philippians 2:1–11

I have ridden in a paddle boat a few times. It always seems like a lot of fun, but once you are in the boat and have peddled for 2 minutes, it doesn’t seem as fun. Peddling together with another person on a hot summer day sounds appealing at first, but trying to peddle at the same pace as your partner also creates a few challenges. You may want to peddle fast to feel the wind in your face; your partner might have longer or shorter legs than you do, or the rudder isn’t working properly. Peddling together takes effort and sacrifice. It also takes humility to work with your partner to make the boat go. This Sunday we will explore our calling to work together by humbling ourselves before one another and by taking on the character of our exalted Savior, Jesus.
