Passage: 1 Samuel 4:1–22
Have you ever wanted to win something so badly that you used everything at your disposal to achieve victory, but you still lost? We know baseball players are notoriously superstitious. They will do anything in hopes of victory – not wash their jersey, wear the same hat, tie their laces a certain way, eat the same pre-game meal, etc. Unfortunately, I don’t know of a single baseball team or player that has won every game or had a perfect batting average because of these activities. Do we approach life with a healthy understanding of who we are and who God is? Do we seek Him first, rather than victory for ourselves?
