Due to students resuming school, an increase of families in our congregation testing positive for COVID 19, and out of an abundance of caution, masks are temporarily mandatory for our worship services. Please enter the building wearing a mask, wear it for the duration of the service, and exit wearing a mask. Children under the age of ten are not required to wear a mask. Thanks for your continued cooperation and understanding
COVID Statement 16.2
August 25, 2020
The leaders of First Baptist Friendswood are excited to announce regathering plans for Sunday morning Bible study groups.
Beginning Sunday, September 6th, the church will provide care and classrooms for children birth through three-year-olds while parents worship at 9:30 am or 11:00 am. Parents are asked to screen their children for fever and symptoms before coming to church. We are advocating for a 100% healthy environment. Should you or your child have a fever or any COVID symptoms, please worship from home. If in doubt, sit it out! All adults who serve in the preschool ministry will be screened on campus before interacting with children. Our preschool leaders will wear masks or shields at all times.
On Sunday, September 20th, Sunday Bible studies will resume on campus at 9:30 am and 11:00 am for all preschool, children, and student groups and adult groups that have decided to gather face to face. Masks are required the entire time you are on campus. Children under ten (fourth grade and younger) are not required to wear masks. Those with a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask are exempt.
Parents are required to wear facemasks when dropping off their infant, preschool, or school-aged child.
We will continue to monitor our state and local government and base decisions on their recommendations and guidelines.
Worship Gathering Plans:
Once Sunday Bible studies resume, worship services will continue to be “family style,” with families sitting together, yet six feet apart from other families.
Should you choose for your child to worship with you, we encourage you to bring crayons, books, or whatever your child might enjoy while worshiping. The church will continue to provide worship services online each Sunday at 11:00 am should you and your family choose to worship from home.
Those with a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask are exempt.
If you are over 65 or have underlying health issues, putting you in a high-risk category for COVID, as advised by the CDC, we encourage you to make an informed decision regarding worshiping on campus.
The following questions will be posted outside the worship center:
- Have you had a fever in the last 24 hours?
- Have you been exposed to someone with COVID 19 in the last 14 days?
If you answer yes to either of these questions, please worship from home.
For 9:30 am worship, please arrive no earlier than 9:00 am.
For 11:00 am worship, please arrive no earlier than 10:45 am.
The designated entrances are the two glass doors on Pecan street (main church entrance). Exterior entrances will be opened for you by our greeters, and two sets of interior doors will be propped open.
We will provide hand sanitizer as you enter the foyer.
Sit as a family unit. Our ushers will lead you to your seats. Seating will be arranged to allow for social distancing. If your child twelve years or younger needs to use the restroom during worship, please go with them.
The worship center will be sanitized after both worship services.
We look forward to the day we can see all of you face to face. We will continue to live stream the 11:00 am worship on our Facebook page and via our website at https://www.firstbaptistfriendswood.org/livestream.
Praying for Each of You,
The Church Staff
