God is Still in Control

Passage: Ecclesiastes 8:1–17

The well-known film director Martin Scorsese once asked several important questions about gangsters after filming one of his movies, The Irishman. Scorsese said the film was an expression of his "religious beliefs or concerns or obsessions”—particularly in the way it explores morality and what happens to gangsters at the end of their lives. He asked, “I realize gangsters are bad. Can a person change? And can a person be redeemed? ... What are we capable of?" We are capable of a great deal, but only God knows the heart of a person to judge.
