A Time for Everything

In 1959, Pete Seegar wrote the song, Turn, Turn, Turn, based on Ecclesiastes 3. The subtitle of the song is “To Everything There is a Season.” In 1962, The Limeliters released the song with that title. Seegar himself also released a live version of the song in the same year. Then, in 1965, The Byrds’ version of the song hit number one in the U.S., proving there is a time for everything under the sun – a 2500-year-old poem reached the top of the music charts in a country that didn’t exist when it was first written.
