Passage: Ecclesiastes 1:12– 2:26

In Victorian England, treadmills were used in penal servitude as a form of punishment. Some of these treadmills ground wheat or transported water, but most of them were purely punitive. Prisoners were punished by spending the bulk of their day walking up an inclined plane, knowing that all their work was for nothing. Sometimes it feels like our work and our decisions lead us in a circle, going nowhere. However, even the wisest man to live, knew that satisfaction is only found with God.
