A Global Christmas
December 1, 2024 Pastor: Dr. David Lorenz Series: Light of the World
Passage: John 1:1–18
Advent comes from a Latin word meaning “the coming.” It is the period of four Sundays prior to Christmas. The tradition of celebrating Advent began in the 1800s among Protestants in Germany, where they would mark doors with 24 chalk lines, then erase one every day as Christmas approached. Now, we have Advent calendars filled with candies and chocolate to count down the days to the birth of our Savior. No matter what country or what tradition, we celebrate with joy the truth of the Word becoming flesh and dwelling among us. Jesus is the Light of the world.
