Once Guilty, Now Innocent
September 29, 2024 Pastor: Dr. David Lorenz Series: Colossians: Rooted in Jesus
Passage: Colossians 1:21–23
You probably know the phrase “innocent until proven guilty.” The burden of proof is on the prosecutor. It is a foundational principle in our legal system. The opposite is true as we think about our standing before God. We are guilty because of our sins, but God declares us innocent (holy/pure) because of the work of Jesus, His Son, on the cross. When our faith is in Jesus, we aren’t just “not guilty”, we are innocent. Jesus’ death redeems us!
