Last weekend, I was watching the Olympic trials. In a preliminary heat of the Women’s 100m race, one of the runners flinched ever so slightly before the gun sounded. The officials stopped the race and disqualified her. She was astonished, heartbroken and inconsolable as she was a favorite to make the Olympic team. However, when it was time to race in the Finals, surprisingly, the young woman was in the race. The officials had conferred and determined she deserved another chance. They restored her. God does the same for us… despite all of our disqualifications, He gives us new opportunities to live out our calling.
