Good News/Bad News

Series: Re:Turn Topic: Sin Scripture: Genesis 1:26–28, Romans 7:14–21

This past Christmas, my mom pulled out some family treasures from her keepsake collection. It was fun to look back at memories in photos, even hearing recordings of my Uncle David preaching when he was in his early 20’s. We were blown away with the heritage of our family. Then, she pulled out some photos of her and my dad when they were young marrieds and my jaw dropped. I couldn’t believe what I saw in that photo, I saw me!
Everyone has physical features of their parents, but I was a spitting image of my father. We have been made in the likeness of our Heavenly Father. We have all kinds of wonderful traits that point back to his goodness and grace. Sometimes though, we struggle to see God’s image in ourselves and others because of sin. I pray today we would be encouraged and equipped to celebrate God’s image in us and shore up the areas in our lives where sin has rule and reign.

Weekly Memory Verse:

The thief’s purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness. John 10:10 (TLB)
